This Week in Music...

I'll start this post by referencing last night's 2007 Hip Hop Honors on VH1. The show featured a tribute to Tribe Called Quest in which Lupe Fiasco clearly went on stage to perform Q-Tip's lines, yet had no idea what a good portion of the lyrics were. Luckily, Busta Rhymes came out during the rendition of Scenario and absolutely tore it down. Lupe later said that he never really listened to Tribe growing up as a kid and that he only did it as a favor to Q-Tip who asked him to be a part of the tribute. Ouch. This is exactly the sort of thing that Bri-G talks about when he says that modern day Hip Hop has no understanding of the roots of the culture. Sad, sad, sad...

Battle emcee of the year, Iron Solomon's most recent battle against Math Hoffa can be seen here in its entirety thanks to the good folks over at Nah Right. Apparently alot of people think Iron took the loss int his battle, although I'm not so sure. Regardless, both guys brought major heat and it is a battle worth checking out. Trust...

Finally, the hottest song out right now is without a doubt, 'No One', the latest from the mega-talented Alicia Keys. There is a remix out with Cassidy on it and as soon as I can find a downloadable version of it, I will post it. Until then, enjoy the original version in all of its glory...
