Grow Up
At this point there is no bigger disappointment and no bigger quitter in the world of professional sports than Michelle Wie. Yesterday at the Women's US Open she walked off the course in the middle of the round for the second time this month, further emphasizing the fact that she is just not mentally ready to compete on this level. With her whirlwind tours that included unsuccessful attempts at playing on the Men's Tour, we sometimes forget that this Golf prodigy is still just 19 years old. Which bears the question, where are her parents in all of this? Shouldn't they be the ones explaining to her that it's ethically wrong to always cop out to minor injuries whenever she meets some adversity on the golf course?
It's a shame that in a two year span, Wie has gone from a promising young talent who had captivated even the average golf fan due to her amazing abilities, to a percieved spoiled brat who takes her ball and goes home when things don't go her way. This all goes back to her parents treating her like she had accomplished something long before she had. Being talented is not an accomplishment, it is a gift. Combined with hard work and determination it can evolve into extraordinary achievements, specifically in the world of sports. Will someone please step in and have a talk to talk with this young women before it's too late?
